Reviews of Barn Farm
This site would have got 5 stars if the showers had been cleaned more and the ladies loos had not been without soap for days! 3 and a half/ 4.
In the week it was a delight , plenty of room leaving plenty of space for kids to play. Very close to lovely walks and places of interest. Friendly hosts who open the shop when needed rather than having opening hours. There is a sauna! There are some individual showers (cleaned less than could do with once a day - unfortunately not before we like to wash) which are private shower rooms with chair, hooks and basin. There are also communal single sex showers in the loo blocks - go early and it's private enough. All showers were plenty hot at no extra charge. Undercover washing up areas too and water stand pipes. Very pretty area indeed, cows mooing, peacocks shrieking....quarry lorries rumbling..could be worth ear plugs if they happen to be on the campsite side of the quarry at night. the fields are slopey and it's first come first served for tents - it seemed the most level fields were for caravans and a large site set aside for weekend use only. We were there for 8 nights mid week to mid week and the site was PACKED at the weekend - queues for showers etc-lots of late evening noise, although security do wander through the site supposedly to quieten things down at the w/end - we just went for a walk on the moor to get away from it till it was properly dark. Away from the w/end a much calmer place indeed.
Pretty. Friendly. £17.50 per night for 7 nights (or midweek) for family of four, free hot showers a plenty and a shop for milk and basics. Will definately go again next year armed with soap and ear plugs (maybe a large amount of cider).
