Reviews of Long Beach Caravan Park
This site is great, we stayed on what is known as the main field which for some reason is only open during the school holidays, numbers are restricted to ensure that the facilities are up to the job, The main field has a modern brick built shower block which has seperate male & female facilities plus specialised facilities for disabled campers. There is an ironing room which also has freezers to refreeze your ice blocks which is free although they do ask for a donation for the local lifeboat, which seems fair. There is a sandpit which seems to keep all of the kids satisfied while waiting for meals. The town is nearby (10mins walk) but don't expect some quaint old fishing town, just about all there is are several cafes, lots of amusements several gift shops and two tattooists both of which seem dodgy to say the least.
The beach is a short 5min walk away but be prepared for the twenty to thirty foot sand dune you need to traverse to get to it, but the beach is worth the effort, it's mainly sand but do not be fooled the water is absolutely freezing.
There is a site shop nearby which seems to stock all of the necessitiesand is adjoined to the coin operated launderette. Opposite these is the "Dolphin" bar which is a friendly watering hole and whats more the food is good, the kids menu and the size of the portions is incredible and only costs £2.95 a time. As a family of 4, 2 adults & 2kids we all ate there and had a drink each and it came to approx £20.00 which I think is great.
The people at the site are friendly and nothing seems too much trouble. The whole place is clean and tidy with no lack of hot water, dogs are welcome, even in the bar but here they must be kept on a lead. All in all a fabulous holiday was had by all. Will we be returning, you bet but next year it will be in the summer holidays so that we can stay for longer,
